Follow this line of logic, if you would:
Do you believe that the government has the authority to step in and tell any Church what it should and should not be practicing or believing?
Do you believe that marriage is, in its most basic sense, instituted and blessed by God, and that it is more the domain of the Church than it is the government?
Do you understand that the government’s current role in marriage is really quite limited. Government essentially just makes it possible for couples to form and when necessary, break a certain type of contractual relationship?
Therefore, if a given church and its pastors prayerfully decide that they wish to join in marriage couples of various orientations, (Whether you agree with this conclusion or not) does the government have the right or authority to deny them the ability to do so?
